Pervasive Systems Centre School of Electronics and Computer Science WiSE: Wireless Sensing in ECS

Welcome to WiSE

WiSE WiSE (Wireless Sensing in ECS) is an interest group that brings together researchers in the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS) at the University of Southampton, UK. WiSE operates as part of the sensor networks research theme of the Pervasive Systems Centre (PSC), which spans the various ECS research groups. WiSE addresses the 'sensor networks' research theme by bringing together researchers with a common interest in wireless sensing and sensor networks.

This website contains information on the researchers that make up WiSE, the research into wireless sensing and sensor networks that is being undertaken in ECS, details of recent news and upcoming events, and contact details for obtaining further information.

WiSE Wireless sensing and sensor networks are receiving interest in many of the ECS research groups, with a number of high-profile projects including Glacsweb and FloodNet. WiSE brings together researchers in this field to increase communication, disseminate knowledge, generate new ideas and research directions, and collate research into a coherent and aligned package. WiSE also increases communication with our undergraduates, helping to disseminate the results of related student projects.

The WiSE interest group holds regular seminars, and facilitates interaction between members to enable better communication via events including research seminars and tutorials. It is intended that more frequent WiSE meetings be undertaken at the group level in order to coordinate research activities; this has been successfully occurring on a weekly basis in the ESD/Communication groups since WiSE was created in May 2008.
